To protect your personal information from unauthorized access and use, we use security measures that comply with federal law. These measures include computer safeguards and secured files and buildings.

How does Carter Federal Credit Union collect my personal information?

We collect your personal information, for example, when you

  2. provide employment information or apply for financing
  3. give us your contact information

We also collect your personal information from others, such as credit bureaus, affiliates, or other companies.

Why can’t I limit all sharing?

Federal law gives you the right to limit only

  1. sharing for affiliates’ everyday business purposes— information about your creditworthiness
  2. affiliates from using your information to market to you
  3. sharing for nonaffiliates to market to you

State law and individual companies may give you additional rights to limit sharing.


Definitions

Affiliates

Companies related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies.
- Our affiliates include financial companies, such as BAFS (CUSO business loans), SB Mortgage Services (CUSO mortgage loans, and Zelle.

Nonaffiliates

Companies not related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies.
- Nonaffiliates we share with can include insurance companies, government agencies, plastic card processors (credit/debit/ATM), financial statement publishers or printers, mailhouse, mortgage companies, mortgage service companies, data processors, and check/share draft printers.

Joint Marketing

A formal agreement between nonaffiliated financial companies that together market financial products or services to you. Our joint marketing partners include insurance companies.
