Carter Credit Union’s Joyce Butler Inducted into Louisiana Credit Union League Hall of Fame
Baton Rouge, LA – [June 12, 2025] – Carter Credit Union proudly announces that longtime board chairman Joyce Butler has been inducted into the Louisiana Credit Union League (LCUL) Hall of Fame. This prestigious honor celebrates Butler’s unwavering commitment to the credit union movement and her decades of exceptional leadership.
With over 35 years of service on multiple credit union boards, Butler's name has become synonymous with dedication, compassion, and visionary leadership. She joined Carter Credit Union’s board during a critical period in its history and, in 2007, was named Chairman of the Board—a role she continues to fulfill with distinction.

Under Butler’s stewardship, Carter Credit Union has achieved an average annual growth rate of 11.7%—a pace more than 70% faster than the national industry average. Her leadership reflects a deep personal connection to the credit union, its mission, and its people.
Butler’s influence extends far beyond Carter’s boardroom. She has served three terms as a local representative to the Louisiana Credit Union League, ensuring the voice of local members is heard at the state level. Known for her reasoned approach and unifying spirit, she embodies the values of the credit union movement.
In addition to her contributions to the financial industry, Butler spent 28 years as a beloved educator at Springhill High School, shaping the lives of countless students with the same care and commitment she brings to Carter.
